Question for Gary.....

Have 17x7 wheels for our '01 A6, what would be the best size to go on them for Max Performance summer tires. Debating between 235x45, dealer also said i could go with 225/45

225/45R17 is the way to go in this case. With only 7" wide wheels, you don't have much of a choice in the matter unfortunately... Most 235/45R17 tires list 7.5" <and some even 8"> as the minimum acceptable rim width.<ul><li><a href="http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AR8&url=/tires/index.jsp">Tires</a></li></ul>

What other options in the 17" lineup would work......

The wheels are a 38mm offset so I had to buy 5mm spacer in order for them to clear the brakes. The dealer tire "expert" advised me not to go more that 7/10ths size difference from the stock 16's or I will throw the speedo off and possibly get a CEL.
