Picking Tires for a Newbie
Through searching the forums, I found at least some people recommending http://www.tirerack.com/. After going there and doing their selection wizard, they recommended 5 different tires: Firestone Affinity LH30, Goodyear Assurance ComforTred, Goodyear Assurance TripleTred, Hankook Optimo H420, or Michelin HydroEdge.
My selection criteria thus far has been: Quiet/smooth ride top priority, tread life second priority, tight handling third priority. My driving style is not very aggressive. Price is also a priority as well. I need all season tires, as I live in Michigan with plenty of winter snow, and I don't use winter tires.
I went down to the local Firestone when I thought I was going to have my flat tire patched instead of buying a whole new set, and the tire they recommended is the Bridgestone Turanza EL400, for about the same price as tirerack.com.
So: are any of these tires a good choice for me? If so, which is the best?
Do you recommend buying tires online and having them installed locally, or is it not worth the hassle?
Should I buy the Road Hazard insurance, or is it not worth it?
Thanks so much for any input you can provide. I'm kind of working in the dark here.
Thanks,
Ben
Road hazard is a pretty personal choice. Much like buying an extended warranty on a computer it comes in very handy if you use it, but worthless if you do not. If you can't remember the last time you had a flat from a road hazard, you may want to consider skipping the program IMO.
Since I'm obviously biased towards you buying them from me, I'll let other members chime in regarding your question about whether or not to order them online. That being said should you decide to buy from us you'll find our local installer search of help :

Installers
