225/45/17 vs 205/50/17 for winter tires in Boston
does it really make sense to go narrow for better snow traction when it only snows a couple days of the winter or go wider for better dry traction? Prices seem similar enough not to decide by price. Thanks.

Boils down to personal preference. Some aren't willing to give up the bit of extra dry grip and cornering for a limited number of snow days. Others argue that driving in the dry isn't too challenging, but when the roads are snowy and you most need the grip you'd appreciate the more narrow tire and say its worth the tradeoff.<ul><li><a href="http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AR8&url=/winter/index.jsp">winter</a></li></ul>
