Which Winter tire?? (Gary or others please chime in...)
I have a spare set of OEM wheels that I plan to use as dedicated as my dedicated winter setup on my B5 S4.
I live in the Phlly area. Our winters are cold with several light snow falls and an occasional heavy snow (for this area at least) 6-8" etc. Most of the time the snow is gone from the roads within a few days, but other times is stays on the road as slush, ice for a week or more.
What are my choices? I've always used A/S tires so I don't know what a "winter" tire feels like on the road.

Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D
Goodyear Ultra Grip
Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2
Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3
Michelin Primacy Alpin PA3
1. Are the Michelin "Primacy" Alpins not as "sporty" as the Pilots?
Which would you choose? Tread life? Dry vs. Snow handing, etc.? Hopefully I can run these tires for a few seasons.

I run the Dunlops
They have great traction in ice and snow and I expected to loose grip a lot with the RS due to the torque it has. Only if I deliberately tried to loose traction did the tires spin

The best two that I've had experience with are the Blizzak LM25 and Dunlop Winter Sport 3D for a good balance of snow and ice traction, dry road handling along with average life in that catagory.
The Primacy alpin is replacing the Pilot Alpin PA2 and PA3. Unfortunately we have no experience with this new version yet.<ul><li><a href="http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AR8&url=/winter/index.jsp">winter</a></li></ul>

I always thought Michelin Primacy was a lower (not as sporty) line compared to Pilots?
Am I wrong or does this not apply to Winter/Snow tires?
So both the Pilot PA2 and PA3 are both being replaced by the Primacy?

Normally that would be the case, however Michelin has apparently decided that the Pilot name will no longer be used with their winter tires.
