Winter Tire Q for Gary '01 allroad
The choices so far are:
Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3
Michelin Primacy Alpin PA3
Dunlop SP Winter Sport M3
225/55R17
Looking for handling,comfort and lowest noise possible. Thoughts? Suggestions?
I saw a weird message when I was poking around on the TR site yesterday... it said something to the effect that the Pilot would provide a'harsh'ride bc the 'load rating' for the tire was much higher than OEM.
I'm a little confused... what does this mean? Wouldn't you want a higher load rating given the weight of the allroad - esp. when traveling with passengers or cargo?
Timeline:
Pilot PA2 --> Pilot PA3 --> Primacy PA3
The Pilot Alpin is a V rated tire (more performance oriented, less comfort)
The Primacy Alpin is a H rated tire (more comfort oriented)
I have an S4 so I would like a bit more performance over ride comfort. I am thinking about grabbing a set of the Pilot Alpin PA3s before they are gone.
Of course, I am trying to weigh the Pilot Alpin PA3 to Blizzak LM25 and the Dunlop 3D tire as well.
