Curious Jerky Transmission
My 2001 A4 2.8 Quattro Automatic (Tiptronic) is about 5 months and 15,000 miles old. It behaves pretty nicely all the while except sometimes, when gently slowing down to a stop. Just before stopping, it "jerks" (or "kicks") forward just in a slight and subtle manner.
It irritates the hell out of me, since most of the times I can't recreate this problem at will, to demonstrate. And even if I do, most people can't feel the jerk (on the passenger side).
The two dealerships (one of which I bought the car from) vehemently claim that the car is doing just fine and the transmission is in top form.
Anybody faced this problem ? Also the usual upshift to higher gears from stop to start, is jerky at best. Not at all smooth transmission like the 325i bmw my friend bought at about the same time.
Do I need to wait till the transmission actually breaks down ? Because I'm pretty convinced that it is a transmission problem.

Had the same problem...
My 99.5 2.8QTipS, had the same problem for the first 10K miles. When slowing to a stop, the transmission would "kick" into first RIGHT at 5MPH. Annoyed me. The car has 22K now, and it's pretty much gone.
Yours seems like it's hangning around a little too long, however it took me about a year to reach 15K. (Don't know if that makes a difference)
