Default Rant...

Apologies in advance, but I'm a bit hacked. Went to look at a car for a fellow lister to check it out. Lister previously asked for the favor on this forum. I agree, and spend the better part of 3 hours taking pictures, inspecting the car, and chatting up the somewhat lonely soul who owns the whip. Return home, email the lister, offer to send pics, report the condition, blah blah blah... Meanwhile, the current owner keeps calling me to inquire if I've contacted the prospective buyer, who asserted that he was "very interested" from the start. Have I heard back from said lister? Nah...not even so much as, "I found a better car, but thanks for your help."

I won't name any names, as this is not meant to be a vindictive thread(and as the truly curious could find it anyway), but I'm disappointed that this kind of stuff goes on in our "family".
I love cars, and certainly didn't mind kicking tires, but I had better things I could have been doing, like working on my own (cars).

"Lack of consideration for others" has long been on the list of attributes of typical human behavior. Is there not enough of that, pervasive in our society, that we have to also bring that here? It's not frequent, but also not uncommon to see folks at AudiWorld at odds, when one party has failed to send parts for which he's been paid(or visa versa); or maybe two personalities collide head-on by virtue of their ways of expressing themselves. I'm not naive...stuff like this is bound to happen.

I'm just saying that it would be nice to be a bit more aware of(i.e....not take for granted), some of the things that we as a forum provide for each other, whether it be moral support for a fellow Audi lister and his recently deceased grandma, advice on changing out a BPV, help with locating parts, how to heel and toe, bargain shopping for a throttle body, or simply approval/affirmation of a job well done(or not so well done). Think about where you'd be if someone hadn't taken the time to answer YOUR nOOb q's, before responding with a disparaging comment. To many of you, I'm preaching to the choir. For some, courtesy/respect doesn't come so naturally. Do I think that this forum should be warm and fuzzy with chocolate sprinkles on top? Right...

The simple fact is that most humans crave drama. *We* like automotive drama: engines that blow up; chassis that go faster; rims that are lighter; fixes that are quicker; parts that are cheaper; paint that is glossier; slicks that are slicker(ok, not really). I'm just saying that it would be cool if, in the process of serving up all this drama, it was done so with some side dishes of respect for each other and for our time here.

Here endeth the stuff...

Default You'll feel better after a few beers Patrick

BTW, looks like I'll be at Barber on the bike on the weekend of Sept 17-18. It's gonna be a blast doing it in the S.
