DEF Fluid
Curious - Does anybody have to pay for DEF fluid at their Audi dealer? I think the settlement states free refills between scheduled service visits. I've been to a local dealer twice, exclusively for the refills and there was no charge. A friend went to the same dealer for his service and was charged for the fill. I think he paid $28. I told him if that's the case, to get it filled the week before he has service done.

I refill it myself. it cost about $20 to buy adblue, but I need to spend at least 6 hours at the dealership if I'd want it for free. My time cost much more

Ours is free at the dealer. As a side note, our Touareg TDI threw a code, dealer said the urea percentage tested out of tolerance and asked where we bought the DEF. Told them it had always been filled at a dealer per the settlement. They checked and verified the info, no charge for their work to drop the tank, empty and refill. My advice is allow (require) the dealer to fill it per the settlement, never know when something can come up.

I get adblue from AutoZone. I dont know what brand it is. It is a white box with blue letters on it.

Is there a warranty requirement as part of having the vehicle software updated to continue to use them to refill the adblue? I've heard all DEF is the same yet here I am hearing that may not be the case.

I get mine at the dealership but fill it at home.
The stuff is surprisingly cheap at the dealer. Less than it costs at the local parts stores. I’m sure they would do free refills if I asked but that would require waiting. Quicker to just buy it and have two containers on hand. Or Q7 uses roughly one gallon per 2000 miles. Not a big deal.
