Default So i just got back from doing the Stoptech method of rotor cleaning and brake pad bedding...

at least 10 fast decelerations from 70-5mph and i'm still getting shuddering at highway speed braking.
At least that means i didn't waste my money on the new brake parts i ordered.
So i'm thinking of doing the install gtg/bbq at my house saturday june 14th? if not, it will have to be at the end of the month cause i leave for vacation on the 15th. Now where's this peteh fellow???

Default Wait, so esplain me something Lucy

You have shudder with the OE brake parts? And you were just trying to redistribute carbon on the chance that was causing the pulsing?

Default I was seeing if i could clean off deposits that were on the rotors with the EBC green stuff pads.

If that was even the cause. Stoptech says rotors do not warp. But they also say that if it's too extensive that braking process won't work and they would need to be sanded down or whatever.

Default Best thing to do is clean the rotors off with brake clean...

and then sand them down or use a wire bristle brush to try and clean them. If you have air tools, you can use a stiff wire disc or sanding disc. The idea is to just get the surface ready for your new pads.

From what Stoptech told me, every pad leaves a deposit and that deposit builds up. So that is what typically causes that warped rotor feel.

Of course, if you have stock rotors, they may indeed be warped. The above process was meant for aftermarket rotors like Stoptechs. However in some cases it works with stock rotors and that shudder goes away....YMMV!

Default If the rotors are shuddering, they are warped and there is no fix without resurfacing them...

You can resurfaced them and then do the break in part, it will work just fine.

Also 70-75 to 5 mph is way to fast. 45 mph to 5 mph is the standard recommendation. You want to warp your rotors keep doing the 70-75.

Do 20-5 mph 3 times in a row, drive slow for 1 minute, and do 3 more at 30mph-5, again slow for 1 min, then do it again at 45mph-5. And you should be set. Drive slow for a bit and do not stop to let them cool off.

Default For a stock rotor this is probably true.

For an aftermarket rotor like Stoptech it is almost always brake pad buildup.
