Almost joined Joel in the gas-tank mod club last night...
On my way home, I heard a very loud "thunk" under the car..didn't see anything in the rearview mirror, so I drove on home. Today I jacked up the car to find this:

this BFN (big f'n nail) punctured through one of those black plastic thingies that divert airflow in front of the wheels (at least that's what I think they do!)

Had virtually the same thing happen with a nail (if you could call it that) like that on my A6!!!
Unreal. Did no damage, other than stabbing into the plastic. But it looked almost exactly the same as your picture!
