Bad Compressor a/c compressor? thoughts?
I had the The A/C compressor and dryer replaced in my 01 tt about 3 years ago. A couple of days ago the car suddenly stopped making cold air. Its been 100 degrees with about 20% humidity. Static pressure reads 110psi on both sides. When I start the system the compressor engages and the pressure drops to about 70 psi both sides.
Ive checked the fuse panel fuse and the one located on top of the battery.
around the net ive seen people talk about a bad compressor with equal pressure, but they sound like pressure unchanged from static to running at 2000 rpm for a minute. I wonder if the expansion valve may be stuck.
Any thoughts?

A slight pressure drop on the low side but still 70psi but no pressure rise on the high side sounds like a bad compressor. The metering valve can stick or clog but suction side would pull way down and shut the compressor off on the low pressure switch. My 2001 at 160000 miles has had the compressor replaced twice.
