Default Bose Issues

From what I can tell on most forums, Bose stuff sucks.
I picked up a mk1 Roadster, the audio system seems cobbled together.
Would I just be better off replacing the JVC head unit and rewiring the whole thing from scratch with a sub in the trunk? Or, is the sound processing from Bose worth trying to marry the right components to?
I keep waffling!

If you are into loud and/or high sound quality car stereo, forget the Bose. It's only rated at 175W and is old technology. You will probably want bluetooth and CarPlay functions anyhow which the Bose did not have. The Mk 2 basic Concert sound system sounds much better than the Mk 1 Bose.

On my 2001 Coupe I replaced the head unit with a Kenwood KMM-BT728HD, replaced the Bose amp with a 400W Kenwood KAC-M1814, and replaced the door speakers with JBL GTO609C component speakers.
I kept the rear Bose woofers, and threw the Bose 6-CD changer in the trash. I used all the original car wiring except for routing RCA cables from the HU to the amp. On the Bose system the rear woofers are wired in parallel so I separated them. Also the Bose amp is only 2 channel. The front and rear speakers all share the same 2 signals but with a 4 channel amp now the rear woofers get their own signals.
It's a big improvement but I think I cheaped out on the speakers so I will probably upgrade those next.

Thanks for all the input on this forum. I'm gutting the system for an Infinity Reference amp, Infinity Primus Component speakers in the front and Infinity Reference 2 ways in the back.
I'm going to have everything run to add a small sub in the back if needed (sooo many rattles in the roadster, not sure if I could stomach the thump)

ordered the new system from Crutchfield. I'm running every thing new. Can I just unplug the Bose amp, or would I just be better off leaving it alone? I'm just going to rerun all the speaker wires new from the amp.

Can you fit your new amp where the Bose amp is? That's what I did, I cut an aluminum mounting plate for the new amp and bolted that to the old amp mount holes.

I hadn't thought of that. We'll have to see how big this new amp is.
