Default Camera Mount (Speedmount version) received and installed...

Looks like I'll have some quality videos of the upcoming April 17th, Willow Springs Track Day! Just received the camera mount from Patrick (mantics4@yahoo.com) and it is definately a quality piece.

Will try it out this week, but all signs say this is the way to go... I hope I don't have much seat vibration. I will also be adding a fixed mount microphone (with mucho damping material) to rid my films of the internal car noise created by the mandatory "windows down" rule. In my last vid's the noise was a big issue and had to be edited out/over.

Will post results after the event!

Default TTigg, you need this...

to chronicle your cross-country trek. You'd also need about $1,000 worth of tapes. :-(

Would be cool though!

A simple plug in the 'Mic' jack will cut-out the internal mike. R-S should have a plug to fit.

Default right on... where are you going to put the mic?

I wonder if way back in the hatch would provide some nice exhaust noise. Or maybe under the hood... :-)

Default The rear hatch is a pretty good idea...

I hadn't thought of that. I was thinking about simply placing inside a foam enclosure (to eliminate wind buffeting) and using duct tape to affix it to the top of the dash - at the midpoint.

I'll hit Radio Shack and get the mic ensuring that it has enough cord to get to the rear area and do some testing this weekend.

Thanks for the idea!

Default How thick is the aluminum tubing?

I made a similar type of mount w/ 3/4" aluminum tubes. Mounted a smaller DV camera than the one in your pic. i took it for a test run and the vibration was too much.

I wonder if having anyone in the passenger seat will make a difference in the amount of vibration.

How much did this cost?

Default Answers (sort of)

The aluminum material is not tubing but rather, solid CNC turned material. Each of the two pieces is about 3/4" thick and is squarish and solid.

And yes, having someone in the seat will make a huge difference. If there is too much vibration, I will mount it to the drivers seat. That oughta help eliminate vibrations.

As for the cost, 'twasn't cheap... $133.00 total including shipping.

Hope this help and I will post a message relating to the vibration issue - hopefully later today.
