Default Central Lock control Module Replacement Procedure?

So I've been looking through the Bentley and still not quite sure about the process. I don't have imobilizer so I think I should be able to do it myself and not pay the dealer, but just wondering if anyone else has tried this before?

(my remotes stopped working due to water damage of the module I picked up a matching module from a junk yard and wanted to do it myself)

Default I removed it once;it's a bitch

you will need to get at it from the trunk and from here.

You will need a 10mm socket o nan extension. I used a 1/4" drive and small racket.

it's cramped, to say the least.

Remove the trunk floor cover, look at the link for a 'how to'

You will need to pul the panels from the back of the trunk to see where this module is located. You can get at a few of the screws this way, sorta.

Once you get the module removed, you can disconnect the cables.

it's *not* easy.

good luck<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/1818671.phtml">Roadster Trunk cover removal</a></li></ul>

Default thanks Jeff, getting to it is actually easy for me as I have no liners in the trunk :) but...

My concern was in the programming. fortunately no imobilizer. Knowing that my keys need to be coded to it is OK, there are enough post on that, just wondering if there was any data that I needed to grab from the old module, then would I need to "program" that old data into the new one for it to work with my cluster???

totally out on a limb here as far as the adaptation idea? thanks for any thoughts.

I don't think that's a problem the immobilizer function is in the cluster.

Replaced mine with a junkyard one and worked just fine. Just need to do the standard key reprogram.

Default My top didn't work with the water damaged module but after replacement...

it worked just fine so check all connections again and make sure everything is plugged in the right places. If it still doesnt work then something is wrong with the top release sensor of the new module. Good luck!

Default Go ahead and wrap the new module in water tight seal bag and move it to another...

location that is not prone to water dripping on it. Original location was just a bad location right underneath an opening that is really prone to water damage. I moved mine to a more central location that is not directly underneath a hole.
