Check Engine Light
My dealer - finally out of desperation - changed the airflow sensor on my 2000 180TT because the check engine light had been on. He was unable to fix the "problem" three times before because the engine diagnostics showed no problems. Well now the car runs better than when I bought it and the light is off!

My car's check engine came on a couple of weeks ago and the dealer "repaired" the problem when I changed from the summer to winter shoes. Service rep said the problem was a leaking purge valve. The check engine relit less than 150 miles later. Perhaps this information will help them fix the problem.

I posted my problem here a couple of months ago. When I was driving the car home from its 30K service, the check engine light came on. I took it back to have them look at it. Once again, when I picked the car up -- the light was off; however, on the way home it would come back on. This went on twp more times -- each time the same result. Each time my paperwok said they found nothing wrong, but "repaired" a wire here and there. Finally after the 35K service when I told them they HAD to get it fixed, they noticed the airflow sensor looked a little "worn." Well that was it. The car drived better than ever!
