Shame on me. I should have made you pay for another light.
Correct me if I am wrong. I would hate to be right.
the xenons helped inspire the mod, true. i had been thinking about doing the clears for awhile, but wasnt going to because it'd void my warranty. however, once that adjustment **** you sent me was in my car, the headlight warranty was voided (audi knew because i had them look at my car when it was broken, and they know i havent bought a new assembly).
since the warranty was already voided, i decided what the heck, may as well try something risky.
sorry if you feel a i deceived you, but my need was genuine and unrelated to this mod...

to open the assembly, i ran a think flathead screwdriver around the perimeter joint and scraped out a better portion of the grey, gooey glue type substance. i found that heating it had no effect. once i had removed a lot of the glue (which i saved), i SLOWLY pried the cover off starting from the sides (the top and bottom are flimsier). i'd say it takes a good 30 minutes or more the first time. (i put the saved glue back in when i was resealing it, but silicone would probably work too)

once open, i cut a piece of wraparound lamp covering to match the OEM mold. this took a long time. I used Simkar Model#42-00690 lens, the part number was 920-220 and paid about $11 for a more than large enough sheet. this process took a LONG time (maybe 2 hours each), for the lens must be an EXACT match in terms of dimensions.

all in all, i wasnt as worried about doing it because my warranty on my headlights was already voided. is it difficult? not really, but it takes a lot of patience and time to make it look pretty.
i now have two OEM reflectors, so if anybody has a good contact, i'd be willing to part with them if somebody could make a mold-based copy of the with clear plastic. that would be ideal, and make this mod MUCH easier.
Euro parts, maybe? Cuz I'd like to purchase some without busting up my headlights.
I've tried this before - about 6 years ago when I was into the whole Civic/Import thing. It looked good, but once you opened up the hood, you could tell the housing has been opened up (with all the cracks and silicone).
