Default Cold engine problem

Hi all,
Let me first tell you how incredible, if somewhat obsessed ;-), this community is! Very useful.

My 225 QC's engine sputters the first couple of minutes when it's completely cold, in the morning for instance. It doesn't last long but is very annoying!
Anyone had that problem? Does anyone know what it is? Is it documented somewhere?
I just want to prepare myself before I talk to the dealer.

I also have the problem with the gauges that have a hard time waking up. Is it worth mentioning to the dealer?

Oh, and maybe this time, they'll have the part needed to fix the radio cover. It's been broken since the day I took delivery. Been to the dealership 3 times since then. They never have the right part. Apparently there is a part referencing problem at Audi. Oh well, I enjoy the drive.

Olivier
Everytime I think of her, I picture myself looking at her fantastic body,
her tight fit and how damn good she is when she is hot! - Yes, I love my Audi TT!

Default I had a cold start stall that was a bad coolant temp sensor...

it was very hard to troubleshoot as it was intermittent. But no sputters for 2 weeks, zoom zoom!

Who me, ObsessTT?

Default The engine just takes a minute to warm up. This is especially true for a virgin (pre-break in)

engine. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Just let it warm up for a few minutes in the driveway or on the road before you take her above 3000 RPMs.

Default Here's a tip concerning your situation.

When you go to start the car in the morning, put the key in, and turn it to on, but don't start the car. Put your seat belt on and do whatever else you need to do, or at the very least wait until the display says "OK" before you start the car. It only takes a few seconds, and a few people have reported fewer problems when they take these few extra seconds to let the car do whatever it needs to do before starting.

Default You think you can just get into a diablo and peel out of the driveway?

That car costs at least $275,000 and I'll bet you have to let it warm up. I live in Chicago and have been following this tip (I first read it posted by Coloney Boogey) since last winter and it does make a difference....gives power to some stuff to pre-pump some stuff somewhere...I don't know what it does but it DOES help.

Default I'm not lookin for an argument Robby. It's just an opinion of mine...

but I will say :P that a Diablo is pretty much pushing the limits of modern engine technology and it's hand built. Everybody knows robots build cars better. (rolls eyes heavenward jokingly)

Default Hang on...I'm not trying to get into an argument either. I respect your opinon...The Diablo is an

extreme example but what about the 996? I test drove an 02 two weeks ago. When the dealer fired it up and pulled it out of the spot is was nasty sounding. He told me to wait a minute for it to warm up. Sure enough it did and the idle noise came down.

I guess thats the price we "pay" to have a car in the same class as a 996 and Diablo I sure wouldn't trade up for a Saturn that doesn't do that or a luxury sedan for that matter...I'm tring to roll in sTTyle
