Mine did it twice,both times after I washed the car.I decided that some water must have been causing the problem and in the future I was much more careful with the hose and the problem has not resurfaced.

similar problem
All of the instruments on my dash starting going out. It started slowly, only once in a while. Then it was all the time, even while driving. After replacing the entire dashboard cluster the problem stopped.

You know, you are probably right. It did happen the next morning after washing my car both times.
Tell me, how were you careful with the hose washing? Did you avoid the hood?
