Cost to replace windshield?

I'm having my windshield replaced on wednesday. Looking for ideas of what others have paid to have it done.

on my A4 the windshield place charged me $100 (my deductible)

I don't think it counts as a comp claim. Of course the next week the car was totalled

That one counts.

If I were to pay myself, I think it was around $300.

Probably more for Raiders fans.

mine was $540, paid by insurance 2 summers ago. Be sure to get the OEM glass.

Nice sig, BTW. My bro-in-law in Livermore is a *huge* Raiders fan, still has a "Raiders Room".

BTW - Did they tell you it needs to sit 4-5 hours for the glue to cure?

Is there a significant difference?

Thankfully I happen to be good friends with a guy who owns an auto glass shop, and he's doing it for $200 out the door (OEM glass). I'm curious what the difference is between oem and non.

the curve of the glass. I had a GTI that the guy used an cheap copy...

the edges wouldn't fit right in the corners, after the glass curved.
I caught him filling in the corners with clear silicone(!)
they stuck out about a 1/4"
I've heard the Audi glass and fit is as persnickety.

Had mine replaced at Clair, around 450, installed. Just make sure they have the correct windshield. 00 & some early 01's have the square rearview mirror, which have a lower mounting point. In addition, the VIN cutouts are different on the new screen.
