Default Coupe security

We plan on ordering a TT on Monday (April production run, we'll have it in mid-late May). We're excited about it to the point where it's hard to sleep, so it's going to be a long next 3.5 months.

This is the first time we'll actually own a nice car (i.e. one that I'm actually worried about being a target for thieves), and I'm curious about the security system. I know that if a car thief wants the car he's probably going to get it. I also know the basic info on the security system from seeing the car, reading the brochure, and searching through this forum. I'd like to hear any other stories or recommendations you have, or what precautions you take with your TT. At home we'll keep it in the garage. At work it is will mostly be kept in a covered public garage, but on a military installation. Everywhere else around town we'll just try and use common sense.

What about Lojack?

Thanks.

Default So far, the three or so stolen TT's on this board and UK board have been where people

left their keys near the back door and the house was broken into. Don't leave your keys around where someone could take them easily. Sounds like stupid advice, but honestly, that's been the case with all of our stolen TTs. Others, more technically adept, will probably fill you in on Lojack and the car's security system.

Default Dont worry... TT not anywhere NEAR top stolen cars list

The top 14 cars are all different years and models of honda accords and civics, and the newer ford F150's LOL, My mustang being 15th on the list, or maybe its dropped down to 24th now?

Granted theft happens.... They arnt targeted cars. I'd love to use lojak, but its not available in my area. What about one of those brake locks?

3.5 months to delivery? Good luck. They told me 4-5 months. Took 13. Excuse after excuse.

Needless to say I'll be posting when the car finally does come in. After all this research I don't think we'll be very sympathetic to any excuses!

If we're still waiting for this car in March of 2002 I think I'll shoot myself.

Default There is that club-like devce that stretches down to the brake pedal..

Looks pretty strong, and if your really worried add a club and a really good alarm.. With those 3 devices a thief would probably walk away unless he REALLY wanted your car.. The truth is, if they want it they'll take it no matter what (coming from the guy who installed my alarm).. Everything you add is just a device to slow them down.. Also install motion detectors near the area where your car is parked, thieves don't like it when someone can see them..

Default If they REALLY want it, they strap the rims to a tow lift and

tow it off, regarless of what security measures you've taken...

happend to a guys vette in a nearby apt complex... the thief in the tow truck told the gate security that he was supposed to pick this car up, backed up to it, strapped the rear wheels to the lift, raised the *** in the air, and drove right out with it
