Default DSG problems

Hi Folks, I'm sneaking over here from the A3 forum. Have an 08 with just 10k miles, but I'm wondering how the DSG trannies have held up. We have several folks with about 90k miles on their cars, but more of you have had them longer.

Thanks for the input.

Chip

Default Few...

Chip..Your guys may typically have more miles on than the average TT owner. DSG only here since 2004, but surprisingly few problems reported. I predict expensive fixes in the future, but so far so good (Knock on wood)..

Default That's encouraging, anybody else?

I like the tranny. My first car without a clutch pedal in 20 years. If I decide to keep the A3 a long time this is a concern. Th you!

Default Never heard of a problem on the ones at HPDEs.

Granted , most are still running 6sp manuals.
They do seem solid however. I have toyed with the idea of moving to an 05 or 06 3.2 DSG. Really need to drive one some before I know if I could adapt.

No, where would be a good place to do that?

Default mine was a brake switch problem

that caused DSG to act very strange (clutch engagement hesitations). Brake switch replaced under warranty at dealer and no further issues, still going strong at 45K.

Default over 75k and no issues. (knockin wood) he.he. Keep regular maintenance.>

Few problems were reported and as long as you routinely change the fluid you should be fine..

Default 60K and no major issues...

the car was in limp mode when I first got it from auction at 42K but brought it to the dealer (still under factory warranty) and they "reset" the computer and all has been fine since then.
