Introducing the Bailey Motorsports Alloy Diverter Valve kit for the 1.8T & 2.7T! The stock diverter valve used in the 1.8T and 2.7T powerplants are prone to leakage, noise, and surging. Bailey Motorsports has developed a direct-replacement, piston-type diverter valve that eliminates all of the above problems. These piston-type valves can handle up to 4 bar (~60 psi) of boost and have ~75% more flow capacity than the OE Valve. These valves eliminate off boost stalling, the resulting jerkiness, and the throttle lag. Each and every valve is pressure-tested prior to leaving the manufacturing process. Highly recommended for all chipped 1.8T and 2.7T engines. Install is a very easy 10 minute bolt-in.

Turbo5

12" of HG equates to 5.9psig or 20.6 psia. And 20" of HG equates to 9.8psig or 24.5psia. 60psi might only mean that the valve was designed to a safety factor of 2.5 x 24.5psia or 60psia before it blows its pressed in top or it looses a seal between the piston and its sleeve.
Nobody runs 45 psig boost in street applications and even if they managed to miraculously do it without blowing the head clear off the engine block the spring in the Bailey will not be able to handle the pressure without the aid of the counter reacting pressure on the back side or vacuum side of the piston.
