Default Electrical Problems Update(Central locking)

My central locking has been acting up for a while(<a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/1520051.phtml">original post</a> and <a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/1533640.phtml">update</a>) and I've finally resolved the root issue. I'd been away on business and hadn't driven the car in almost three weeks. When I got in it was musty and had mold growing on any organic material that happened to be on the carpets. WTF?

The roadster has a small catch tray and drain on either side near the hinge. The dealer suggested these had gotten clogged and that water had shorted the controller. He was almost right.
Shining a flashlight on the drains I could see water in both of them(and it hadn't rained in several days). I took some stiff wire and carefully cleared the drain.

Water had been overflowing the plugged drain and flowing under the carpet panel in the top well into the area where the contoller module is. I don't think the module actually got wet due to its location and covering. My best guess is that the accumulated water vapor got onto it or the connectors and is causing a short somewhere or has blown the module. I now have some functionality(auto window up/down) that had been broken but the gas cap and trunk buttons still don't work so I'm hoping it's just a short.

I've put a dehumidfying tub in the car and am letting it all dry out. I'm hoping to get the module connectors off this weekend to clean and dry them but it's a very awkward location. If that fails I'll replace the module, assuming I can get it out.

Default Here are some pix of the space where that controller lives. You might find something that helps

Default From your pics and Bentley it looks like the only reasonable way to get to it...

is to remove the rear interior panels and access it through the large opening in the center. Not the answer I was hoping for.

Default Yeah its in a difficult spot. Should only be a couple nuts to remove though

I think that you can get your hand down to it from the little trapdoor in the bottom of the well, but even that's difficult enough to get to unless you remove one or both of the hoops (rollbars) first. And that of course requires removal of the upholstery panels, which are a bit of a pain to reinstall.

I think you're right about the through the trunk route, but it aint gonna be pleasant...unless you're a midget =)
