Default Engine codes

How do I find my engine code?
I looked under the hood and someone told me that it was stamped on the block. The only thing I can see that is stamped says "AMU" Is that an engine code?
I thought they were AWW and AWP

Also, what is the difference in coil packs between revision L and the latest "E" version?

From the looks of it I think I need the L version but I want to know if there is any difference between the 2 - or can I use either?

ecs states that I need the engine codes so I get the right part, which part do I need?

The coil packs were from ecstuning.com.

I have a 2001 TTQC 225 but the sticker under the hood says that it was manufactured in 2000 - is it a 2000 or a 2001?

TIA

Yes, AMU is a valid engine code as well as BEA, ATC, and AWP for the 1.8 version

Default Thank you, so which coil packs would I need?

Do I get the "L" or "E" version from ECStuning.com - do you know? Or can you tell?

According to the images on the site, it looks as though I need the "E" version.<ul><li><a href="http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/pagebuild_v2.cgi?make=Audi&amp;engine=225HP&amp;mo del=TT&amp;submodel=Quattro&amp;category=Maintenan ce&amp;subcategory=Engine">See both here - about half way down the page</a></li></ul>

Default I have an AMU code and my car has the "E" style paks on it..

Just look at them to tell. E's bolt down, L's are just slip ons.

Default I have the same engine code AMU though build date is Feb 01 >>

and I just ordered the "E" paks through ECS. The part number is 06B905115E. When I received the paks the actual part number on the top has been scraped off from all 4 paks (strange). The part number is correct on the box though.

Driver side door jam - check build date on the sticker.

Default The model year for a car usually starts in the previous calendar year.

So there are many MY2001 cars that were actually delivered in 2000. There will be lots of people buying MY2006 cars this year.
