Default Finally got my TT

After several years of drooling, I finally got my TT. Its a 2001, nimbus grey, 180hp roadster with the baseball optic leather. I'm in love... I picked it up Sunday, but had to travel away for work on Monday. I'm dying to get back and drive it! 48,000 miles...
Any comments/suggestions for the new TT owner??

Default Be aware that whilst driving you are constantly grinning from ear to ear, and other

drivers might not be able to understand that it's the CAR you are grinning about, and NOT them....LOL

Thanks all. I'm grinning and I'm not even driving it right now.
Any TT groups or get-togethers in MD or the mid-atlantic area?

Speaking of waving, when I picked up the car, I left the owner's driveway, and a mile down the road, a TT coupe passed me going the other direction. I couldn't help but wave with a huge smile.

Congratulations. That's exactly the same combination I first looked at and was ready to buy. I started asking questions like you are and the dealer sold it to a wholesaler while I had a deposit on it. I was a bit disappointed because I really like the baseball optic interior but it may have all been for the best. One week later, I found another 180 Roadster, classically silver and black.

Previously, I had a 2002 225 Quattro Coupe. It ran flawlessly for the 3.5 years I owned it, except for the infamous instrument cluster failure and a broken window regulator. Both problems were readily fixed, and since bought new, were handled under warranty. I'm not sure if these are issues on the 2001s.

According to Audi, there are no recalls or known issues on my car as identified by VIN. I do have a window regulator that has a problem, but aside from a rattle in the window well, its usable and I'll fix it when I have time.

About the 180 engine, I thought I might have to lower my expectations coming from a 225. In reality, that hasn't been the case. Likewise, the gearing in the 5 speed is such that I don't miss the 6th gear either. I just wanted to be back in a TT, and if possible, something not exactly like what I orignally had. I'm enjoying this car alot and hope you'll have as much enjoyment with yours. The baseball optic interior is controversial but personally I think it looks great and apparently the stitching holds up well as the Roadster I looked at had a perfect interior.

Good luck with your TT and post some driving impressions when you have time to log some hours behind the wheel.
