Default Headlights...

Ok, so I've searched the forums, and saw a lot of different answers. I am looking to adjust the xenon headlights on my 01 225. I have seen some things saying it is only possible with a VAG COM, I have seen some others saying there are screws. I am befuddled and my lights are driving me nuts, I spend a lof of time on mountain roads in the dark, and it just seems that the only thing my lights are lighting is the road 10ft infront of my car. At first I thought it was just me, but it I have seen in my searches, that others are experiencing the same...so do I need to use a VAG Com or can I do it without? Thanks.

Default There are adjustment screws..>>

They are labeled and in the front plastic pieces. YOu can get them in line manually. make sure your self levelers are working. There is a sender on the left front and left rear....Broken link arms or missing senders could result in Wonky beam alignment.

Default it is actually marked on the covers in the engine bay>>>>

take a look right over the headlight assemblies....unless they are sanded off, or you removed the covers...

Default Did you see these links?

The way I understand it, the VAG-COM places the headlights in "adjustment mode" then you can manually adjust them, then the VAG completes the procedure by saving the new position.

so do you need to use the VAG to adjust them, or can you just go ahead and use the screws??
did the 00' model year have self leveling xenons?

Default i never used VAG.....>>>

it is the oldschool in me....never had an issue...

I use my garage door to align them....you can do the same with any bright colored wall. Just pull up and keep yourself 5 to 8 car lengths or so away....and adjust according to your preference...

keep in mind the Xenons are not terribly bright so if point them too far down the road, they lose their effectiveness....they can also blind oncoming drivers...
