Hood Wont Pop Up/Open - Please Help

Hi Everyone,

Car in reference is a 2001 Audi TT quattro convertible.

I've been a member here for a while but never posted. I have a very aggravating problem. My hood wont pop open. The last time I opened it, it did open very hard (using the lever under drivers side dash). But it did open. Now, I pull like hell and nothing happens. I popped the end of the cable out of the plastic pull handle, and pulled with a lot of force manually (in claw of hammer) still to no avail.

Now it looks like I'm going to have to try and pop the hood manually. Has anyone had this issue? Is there any way to pop the latches manually without breaking something? Can I take out the grill without breaking it? If not, and I just decide to break out the grill, will that even help me?

Thank you in advance, this has been driving me crazy. Any ideas are welcome and appreciated.

Edit- I also wanted to add that I have searched these forums and others and not had any success before I went ahead and posted this. If someone else had better luck and there is a thread about it, please point me in the direction of it.

I just looked in the Bentley Manual and all I could see for opening the hood was the cable that you tried.

Not many times I'd recommend a trip to the dealer, but this might be one. They're least likely to screw things up...maybe. If your local dealer sucks, then trusted Indy shop.

I don't think I've ever seen this issue before.

try posting on the tt forum on quattroworld.com. most of the old tt'ers, that originally posted all the DIYs here, are now there.
