The Lay-Person's Guide to BASIC inspection (post-collision)
My '01 TT 225 and I rear-ended someone recently. Nothing major in terms of impact...
The aesthetic damage on my TT is limited to the the grill, both headlights (not cracked, just out and need replacement anyway! $$$), front bumper, and left fender (slight). Nothing is dented-in as far the hood or anything.
Internal/mechanical damage...Yea uh, some steam encompassed the car at the time, and well, the radiator went bye bye (fluid container cracked), the electric panel behind the grill is out too. So I had TT rolled away to the mechanic.
This is my first major accident ever...Full coverage is forking over $7K...Though I did work in a deal whereby the body shop will take care of my REAR fender as well (minor dent from a previous incident where a royal moron swiped into my lane).
Anyone, but anyone, have any advice for inspecting (both body work and mechanical) before endorsing that check? (keep in mind, we're talking LAY PERSON, BASIC)...I'd love to drive the car for a few days before endorsing, but don't know if that's reasonable. Or perhaps get second opinions on the body work (I mostly trust the indi audi mechanic for the mechanical aspects).
I guess my main concern is if they use after-market stuff.
