Default More 18" tire sizing info...255/35 better than 255/40

yesterday I posted about fitting 255/40/18's in back w/ 225/40/18 in front...and some said yes, good, w/o spacers....

but math says that 255/35 actually is better w/ 225/40's as far as matching the outside diameter and revs per mile for quattro system....see below.

any thoughts, comments?? i am still a little learly w/ 2 revs/mile difference.

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
225/45-17 4.0in 12.5in 25.0in 78.5in 808 0.0%
225/40-18 3.5in 12.5in 25.1in 78.8in 804 0.5%
255/35-18 3.5in 12.5in 25.0in 78.6in 806 0.2%
255/40-18 4.0in 13.0in 26.0in 81.8in 775 4.2%

Hummm, well that has me thinking. How would 10+ wide inches of rubber work on 8.5 inch rims?

Default Check the specs on the tire you want. I think Pirelli's site lists the rim size each tire size...

was designed for.

At least I think it was Pirelli...

Default It was Kumho's site that I saw the chart.

Default Here it is for Pzero rossos...their site is not very user friendly

go to the tire dimension page for each product.<ul><li><a href="http://www.us.pirelli.com/en_US/tyres/catalog/tyre_product.jhtml?selected=dimdata&productid=2647 &catid=US_UHP">Tire Dimensions for Rossos</a></li></ul>

Default Cool.. thanks... The chart indicates a 9" rim is the approved width for a 255/35/18 tire.

Is this how you read it?

I was thinking about the 255's for the Sportec's, however they're only 8.5 inches.

Oh, this looks likes it's a range of approved rim widths... 8.5 looks do-able (Thanks)
