MTM stage3+
Hi all. Just recently picked up my TTR from the Quattro center NY w/ its new MTM Stage3+ upgrades. I'm thrilled w/ the power, especially at 3k plus she pulls unbelievable.
I have a problem though. In a fun effort to drag a vette this morning, I nailed the throttle and my wheels just spin from 1st to 4rth? I have no traction and went nowhere except a lot of smoke.
Something wrong w/ the tranny? If I ease into the power I'm okay w/ a gradual hit of the throttle. 3rd gear is unbeliavably fast BTW. The gentleman who owned the C5 vette said too much torque for the rear to handle but I read the car good for 500HP? Any ideas?
$10,200 + $2600 labor for install.

I thought the quattro was FWD until slip was detected and then haldex divvied up the torque to where its needed...So the way I see it is that EDL and ESP will kick in a back off the throttle regardless of pedal position and not allow such wheelspin through the gears...although I have been know to be wrong...

You are not at too much torque for the Haldex unit . . .
the Haldex is supposed to be able to handle somewhere around 800 ft/lb of torque. Hp for the tranny is supposedly around 450-500hp, don't know the torque figures.
It sounds like whomever did the install might have left the Haldex disconnected. Are you certain the rear wheels are receiving any power?
You should be able to spin 1st and 2nd, maybe chirp 3rd but NOT chipr let alone spin 4th!
If you have a VAG Tool, check the Haldex, if you don't know what to look for ask John S. and he will point you in the right direction.
I hope you are going to TT-East! We need to get together again soon!

ESP would not have even allowed him to get beyond about 40mph.
I did this in Mike's car on a hard launch. Spun 1st, 2nd and backed off as I was going to go to 3rd. ESP went haywire. Don't like it at all.
ESP being off would be the only way he could spin the tires into 4th, but then again his Haldex would have to be turned off to do that. My guess is either the Haldex is blow, which I doubt or when they did the install something was left unplugged. the Haldex can easily handle the HPA 500hp, so the MTM Stage III+ is no big deal.
