Saturday before cruising to waterfest I replaced my pre-cat o2 sensor. Just precautionary because I recently replaced my MAF (believe it or not, for the 1st time) at 85k and I figured this is next in line.

the price of the actual sensor through the dealer is around $200 not including labor (p/n 06A906262AG)... the price of the vw plug?... $20 (p/n 06A906262Q). the only difference is a longer wire going from the sensor to the connector which I wound up tucking into the connector cover.

a little WD40, o2 socket and a breaker bar (7/8" came in handy... though you can use an open end wrench) and the thing came right out. It comes with anti-seize on the threads so I just torqued the new one in (55Nm I believe). I have a FWD 180 (or whatever at this point) and the cat is in a more accessible area than on the 225.. so do some research before you jump right in.

Thanks to Dave for his helping hand and for getting me the o2 socket. The longest part of the install was jacking the car....

Any idea if the VW plug will work on the 225?

 

wow, you got that out with just a wrench? most times they need to be heated well first

 

I got lucky.... oh also.. when I did the stage III... I had a custom dp and race cat installed... so they must have had to pull the O2 sensors recently... the installers must have had to heat them.

 

I think steve has written about it... although you might want to do a search on it.

 

I used a 7/8" box wrench, came right out, no problems, no WD40. (4 years, 71K miles)

 

There's a special tool that you can get though.

 

what part # is the post-cat o2?... same as the pre-cat VW one?

 

and also 02 sensor bank 2 no signal. After clearing DTC CEL came on next day.

 

VW parts lost the order, but have found it and they are on their way to me $19.46 each w/ 4 pin plug. I'll let everyone know!
