Overheating problem?
Any ideas? Other than taking to dealer for a lookover?

So long as the gauge and idiot lights are normal, it shouldn't be of any concern.
What you are talking about IS one of the reasons that people are doing some of the mods that we do. The ECU Chip actually allows the turbo and engine to run cooler. An exhaust allows the turbo to run cooler. A larger intercooler allows the turbo to run cooler. Synthetic Motor Oil allows the turbo and engine to run cooler.
Yes, it is true that by having the engine run cooler is will in turn produce more horsepower and torque. That is the unfortunate price we have to pay because of the concern of heating our turbos and engines too much! lol

This is also the reason I will be installing a gauge pod in my car so i can more closely monitor different things in my 180TTQ.
I hope this explained things to you.

Do a search and you should find it. Look under chipping, or exttreme, or temperature .. .something like that.<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=3285"><img SRC="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/ttsig.jpg" BORDER=0 alt="Click for Mods"></a>

I believe I read or dreamed somewhere that your new TT comes with a 'special' oil that is not to be changed for 5000 miles. Something about helping piston rings to seal... It went on to say not to use synthetic oil. Do you know if that refered only to the break in period or is synthetic nixed?

Audi recommends a 5000 mile oil service for the 2000 cars and I think they changed it to 10,000 for the 2001 cars. I don't have an '01 so I can RTFM! lol
I switched to Mobil 1 Tri-Synthetic at my first oil change. I was also told that the TT's ALL come with synthetic FROM the FACTORY. The dealers actually DON'T put synthetic oil in, they put in regular oil! I could not believe this when I heard that.
I highly recommend synthetic oil.<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=3285"><img SRC="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/ttsig.jpg" BORDER=0 alt="Click for Mods"></a>
