Performance tips
I have been driving an '01 TT 225HP Q Coupe since May and have loved every second of it!! Quite simply put, IMHO this is the most beautiful car ever designed, let alone put into production.
Now, on to my question. I'm a newbie to performance tuning. Heard about Garrett and TAP chips and would like some guidance as to which of these (or others) would help me achieve my goals of boosting power to 250 - 300HP. Would also like some pointers to and recommendations (if that's allowed in this forum) on SF Bay Area shops which can do this type of work.

Go with MTM!
I was NOT going to shell-out any money for a chip, but after Terry Griffin, Griffin Motorwerke 510-524-7447, suggested that I give the MTM chip a try for the weekend I was thoroughly convinced. After driving the car at Sears Point and around town for a couple of days I was more then willing to take out my wallet! The power increase is dramatic and it can be felt in the seat of your pants. The other bonus is that the turbo lag is gone! The car is quicker off the line and you don't get that delayed "squirt" at about 3,000 RPMS. That alone makes it worth it. From what I understand, MTM thoroughly tests their chips on real cars and also works with Audi in some official capacity. I don't know about other chips manufacturers but some of them sound like they do things by trial-and-error rather than test on real cars. I am not trying to justify a purchase after the fact--I was sold on the MTM chip before I bought it!
Since then I have added a MTM stainless steel muffler and exhaust--it's absolutely a beautiful work of art and it sounds great! Between the chip and the muffler I believe this should bring me up to around 260 hp.
