Default plug or patch?

Ran over a nail. Is one better than the other? The only reason I even ask is with a plug I don't worry so much about my pretty wheel getting all scratched up. thnx!

Default I read to fix properly.. the tire should be removed from the rim

Plugged & then patched from the inside.

Default Patch from the inside. It's the only way to be sure that the nail>>

didn't do any damage to the inside of the tire after it entered the tire. I've seen plenty that went thru the tread and looked harmless, but after taking the tire off and inspecting it, damage was found on the inner sidewall. Be safe, and have it done correctly at a GOOD tire shop. NOT Pep Boys or some goofballs like that.
