Default Power Window Problems

Tonight when my wife and I got home from a friend's house we parked the car and proceeded to get out. Well, when I went to roll up my (driver's) window the one-touch engaged, rolled the window all the way up, and then it rolled halfway down on its own. I tried holding the switch in both the up and down positions for 10 seconds each thinking it may reset the windows, nope. In fact, the only way I could get the windows even close to being up was to use the key in the door handle and inch it up close to the top.

Is this a common problem with a quick-fix, or is it a make-an-appointment type problem?

Turning the car off and then on didn't fix the problem?

I had a similar problem, I reported it the first time to the dealership, they couldn't find the problem. Then it happened again and again, once again I told the dealership and they are now replacing the two motors and sensors (or something like that)

No, but, for the sake of redundancy (or my imagination ) I will do it again.

Default Go into the fuse box and make sure all the fuses are well seated. Not sure that this...

...will fix your problem and while this "solution" sounds rather silly, many here have exorcised electrical demons this way. When I took delivery of my TT one of the first things I did was to make sure all the fuses were well seated, a few were actually a bit loose.

Default Sometimes a new TT's windows are tight in the track (mine was) and it takes time

to wear in to the track. What you are experiencing is "pinch control," a safety measure to prevent injuries from the window closing on a body part. Some dealers will lubricate the tracks, some will replace the motor - but the motor is not at fault. You can try the window controller reset procedure (hold the switch in position for 5 seconds, then release ... and repeat) to reset set the windows momorized positions in the up and down positions. Don't know what lubricant to recommend on the tracks but other than time, (mine took about a month to loosen up) that seems to be the permanent solution.

Default Re: Power Window Problems

I had this same problem a few days after delivery, constantly on the passanger side, and intermittently on the driver side. The driver side problem went away; the motor and 'regulator', as the service rep explained, was replaced on the passenger side to fix it. Thus, I do not think it's simply a problem with the windows binding...
