Default problems

i recently had work done on the clutch to my 01 ttqc and just picked it up yesterday and noticed a few things not happy with and was seeing if any were major problems. 1. the oil fill cap and what it screws into were not part of my engine but laying on top of it. 2. now i know to do clutch work you have to suspend the engine and detach the tranny but when i popped the hood my engine was in a different position than what it was in when i dropped it off. 3. i hear much more noise now from both the engine and the steering response. any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Default were your engine mounts replaced? >>

1= a little sloppiness on the shop. Did you go over the car with them PRIOR to taking it home?? If not, it is a practice you should get into to avoid stuff like this

2- did you measure it before? If they pulled the transmission, it is possible it could be off a little, but i doubt it would be really noticeable UNLESS your engine mounts were not reconnected or severely worn

3- see item 2....if the bushings are gone, you could have metal on metal or possibly just a crushed bushing...

Take it back to them and go over the car....

no the engine mounts were not replaced and i did not go over the car seeing as they finished it at the very end of the day and i picked it up late last night with my spare set of keys

the car still runs fine but its just visually i know it doesn't look the same

and as for the oil cap i know that was my bad for not catching it

i do plan on taking it back to the shop today and going over it with them

but just asking could the extra noise just be from the fact that the clutch hasn't been broken in yet

Default if it is a 225>>>

that could be part of the noise and harshness depending on which one you chose....In most cases they add significant NVH...

Have them check all the motor mounts....and if they are fine....you may have found the "issue"

Default along with what Hans said on the motor mounts, they are "single use" bolts >

lots of shops don't realize that or just don't replace them. We had a case here not too long ago with broken - reused -bolts. Check for them very carefully.

Default While you're checking the bolts >>

the bentley manual has the specs for checking the correct position of the engine.

Default as hans stated -- a single mass will feel and sound much different >>

i have a spec clutch and single mass flywheel in my car and there's a decent amount of "chatter" when idling. plus you "feel" the transmission through the clutch a lot more.
