Default Question for the experts...

Need your expertise. I'm getting my H&R and bilsteins installed. Installer told me that I should wait at least a month for the shocks/springs to settle before getting the alignment. Is this good advise? Thanks to all in advance.

Default A month is a little long IMHO, if your car is daily driven car....

it does not take long for a set of tires to get chewed up on a improperly aligned front end.

I think that the shocks and springs settle after 10 miles...

But Brad is a well dressed man so I would maybe would agree with him too.

Seems a little long to me: it depends on your mileage

In response to your question of alignment and the timing of it. When we install an H+R kit on a TT we also install our modified lower rear control arms that allow you adjust the camber back to zero. When you drop a TT the minimum of 1.5 inches from standard ride height the measured rear camber becomes 3 degrees negative. This will promote extreme tire wear on the inside 2 inches of the tire. The specified range is zero to 1 degree negitive for street use. These rear arms have an adjustment range of 3 degrees, so you can set it where you want instead of being at a fixed angle. The real way to do an install on an H+R coil kit for your TT is to set it the initial ride height and alignment at the time of installation. As you lower any TT the toe angle changes and the camber goes way negitive as you can see from my ranting. After these initial settings are done you may now drive your car without worrying about scrubbing your tires for no reason. Drive it for at least 30 to 50 miles. This allows the springs to settle into place. H+R springs are very high quality and find there home very quickly. Then you do your follow up alignment and and fine ride height adjustment and then you are all done.
Lloyd of the rings car is done this way. For more info on the rear lower adjustable control arms e-mail tgriffin@sirius.com.

I hope this helps.
