Radio works....then doesnt....Help?

Radio works....then doesnt....Help?
Ok so let me describe the problem:
2003 TT 1.8 Quattro Convertible.
based in the States/Colonies
Say I get into the car after I leave work. Radio works fine and I can enjoy my tunes.
Go to get in the car the very next morning to go to work, radio turns on but no sound. Nothing but the radio on. Backlash, everything works BUT the sound. Go to work mad. Come out from work later that day and it works again. Then it will work for a week or two and then it starts up again. This is happening more and more. Has anyone ever heard of this or experienced this happened to them? I worry about getting an aftermarket radio and this happening again. So I wanted to ask the group here. Thank you in advance...
