Replacement headunit mod...Part 2
The headunit is installed and working beautifully. The original post mentioned that the install needed a ground loop isolator; in fact, the install needs 2 ground loop isolators: 1 for the front line level feed and 1 for the rear line level feed.
I also purchased and installed a Terk XMDirect Alpine interface and a Terk XMDirect receiver. This interface connects to the AI-Net bus of the Alpine headunit. The interface also provides an additional AI-Net interface, to which I connected an Alpine KCA-420a iPod interface.

The RCA cable and the black cable are connected to the XM receiver which is mounted under the dash.

I didn't notice any sound degradation from using the isolators >>>
And the pops completely disappeared. There is a product, the PowerDriver PD4 from AudioLink, that was recommended by a professional installer, that will also do the same thing which might be cleaner, but is more expensive...
