Replacing the shift boot?
At the risk of being tarred and feathered, I just have to say that I find the rubber one really cheesy (not to mention *impossible* to clean).
I will let you know how it comes out, and what the expected cost might be.
$450-$500 + Tax + $100 for material(but I will have lots left over)
I asked to see if he could replace the leather door inserts with alcantara, but the way the plastic door inside is made, he said it wouldn't be worth the money to do it, but he could try if it was something I REALLY wanted. I declined. It it was cheap and would use up my extra material I would have done it. He would have to devise a new way to atttach the armrest part of the door with the rest of it, since it currently is attached with melted plastic.
HTH!
In fact your TT has Alcantara in it right now. Look at the material around the edges of the rear seats. Touch the soft material by the seat belt buckle. There is alcantara there also.
Alcantara a.k.a. Ultrasuede Milano is a form of ultrasuede that was developed for use in vehicles. I believe it is used by Porsche, Audi, Mercedes, BMW and Lexus.
Ultrasuede, ultrasuede light, and High performance were devloped as an alterntive to suede and are commonly found in furniture, jackets, and handbags.
I'm making my TT leather seats look like the S4 seats. I want to do this because I love the way it looks, it will keep my butt cooler in the summer sun(as opposed to black leather) and it won't be as cold in the winter. Another reason is that with no sunroof in the coupe and black leather the interior can be very dark at times and I want to lighten it up. Also the suede does a great job of helping your butt stay in the seat and not slide around.
HTH!
