Default Setting the Time & Date

I have searched thru the archives and found no previous mention.

When you set the date on the TT is there any quick way to reset ? I'm currently up to 2136 on the year date. I just want to go back to 2000!!

Also how do you change the Faranheit to Celsius if you are used to Celsius displayed temperatures. I know you can do this on other German makes of cars. Thanks.

A reset button exists below the speedometer on the left side. You need to pull the button, and make the adjustment. It automatically defaults to the time change, so you have to get to the calendar year by skipping over that and the date and day.

I believe pg. 96 (probably wrong on the pg. #) in your owners manual details this procedure. Best to check with the manual.

I checked the manual when discovering that I need to change the date. Could not find anything about resetting the date e.g. to 1980.

In the beginning of the manual, it lists the various features of your driver display. I believe it mentions how to change the time, go to that page and it should give further details on how to change the date, and year. Unfortunately, I'm at work so I don't the manual in front of me to give you the actual page number.

I know its in there because I referenced the manual this past weekend to change the time and date as well.

It;s in there - I looked at it at lunch time. But it does not tell you how to reset the counter back to a closer number. Am I making any sense here ? I want to go back to 2000 without going forward more...

Default If you really, really want to....

you can pull fuses 11 & 15. Wait five seconds and then reseat them securely.

This will reset the ENTIRE cluster including trip mileage, mpg avg, date/time etc.

Date/time on my 2K180C resets to 7/1/98.

Default And now for the real answer you are looking for....

Using the same method you have used to increment the year, turn the tiny **** the other direction to go back. Really its that simple.

As for degrees C, the manual states that if you change the mode of the environmental control system to C from F, the drivers display will also show C. I don't remember the specifics in the manual for this change, but you can look it up as well as I.

I am a proffessional button presser. Really. I train customers how to use very complex measurement instruments with devilishly bizarre user interfaces that our R&D engineers dream up. When I got in the TT I set the date and everything from intuition, later read the manual.

Someone a month ago posted good advice, sit in the TT with a great selection of music playing and read the manuals cover to cover for a couple hours. You will not regret it.

To change the temp guage from C to F (& vice versa) press & hold the recirculate button on the aircon + move the temp switch to the + position. Let go of both & it should change.

If it does not try moving the Temp switch the other way. It does take a few seconds for the DIS to update, but the aircon should be virtually instant.

Thanks. Well I never do the RTFM thingy unless all else fails and it is absolutely necessary. I did try going counter-clockwise but it;s so twiddly seems like for every. The best answer is to reset back to 1998. I like that. Dont neeed to store trip info.
