shift kit
Can anyone tell me what if any advantage there is to putting a shift kit in my QTTR if I'm not planning to race it? I love the drive I just don't ride it extra hard. I do intend to put a chip and DV to improve turbo lag and improve response. Thanks in advance for the input.

it just feels better
it's a great upgrade for the price, in my opinion. i have the deiselgeek race kit and love it 
for an idea of what it "does", go sit in a honda S2000 and run through the gears. then go try in your TT. a shift kit will get you closer to that snick snick feel with shorter throws, tighter tolerances, etc.

Okay sounds like a good idea. Are the shift kits as reliable as the stock shift? PS Are you the same Artt Vandelay who is a import/exporter? Import match sticks, export diapers I believe...lol

Did you replace your tranny fluid...?
I just ordered my DG short kit, and I remember when I put this same kit on my ol' GTI I had to replace the tranny fluid with that redline stuff just to keep it from crushing gears.
The 6-speed tranny is supposed to be much tougher... any thoughts on this?

moderators are a little heavy handed these days
reliability would be better than stock in my opinion. you are replacing stock plastic bits with a gnarly machined metal peice on the the race kit. You can't go slamming gears after a short shift install, but i don't see any reason the kit itself would affect tranny logevity.

You may want to consider.....
a new shift **** rather than a short shift kit if you're not into track stuff. go to www.autoaesthetics.com and look at his products. They are ultra high quality and make the shifter feel 10 times nicer.
