Shift **** Pattern Alignment ... ??

The dealer replaced my shift boot last week. It had a small tear in it. Since then the shift pattern on the top of the **** doesn't quite align down the centerline of the car. Anyone know the secret of how to turn the ****, or pattern cap, or the shifter shaft to realign the pattern? I know it sounds like a minor thing but it "bugs" me everytime I notice it.

the **** screws on so it should just be a matter of twisting it a little bit....

to get it aligned..

Wow....I said <b>****...SCREW and TWIST</b> in the same sentence =)

Are you sure ??? ... I tried twisting it but got nowhere.
