Default StopTech PSA

You may remember this thread, where I sheepishly broke one of the bridge caliper bolts on the passenger brake caliper. I was able to get the remainder of the bolt out, and the StopTech representative very quickly replied to my email about a replacement. In his reply, he sent out some updated recommendations that are different than those found in the installation manual:

"I checked the installation manual and see where it has not been updated in regards to the torque value. We now recommend using a light film of anti-seize and approx. 8 lb-ft of torque on the bridge bolts. We also recommend to NOT use a torque wrench on the bridge bolts and Banjo bolts, only giving the torque values as a recommendation. We have broken more bolts at lighter torque values than at higher numbers, so we now recommend using one's experience to secure those fasteners."

FWIW, the email reply was very quick (under an hour), and it looks like they'll have a new bolt out shortly.

Edit: Four new bridge bolts.

Default Happened to me and I now use liberal amounts of antiseize. I may have posted about this a long time

ago. I had to send mine to Stoptech to get it removed. Had them rebuild both calipers at the same time.

Now, I just snug up with an allen wrench and that works just fine.

Default Couldn't find any posts on it, sorry.

But yeah, snugly with Allen wrenches is my plan from now on.

Default I'd have to agree with the comment NOT to use a torque wrench on these. I just

finished R&R of the oil pan on a non-TT, and used a brand new torque specifically designed for low torque values. Then followed the factory pattern for tightening the 28 or so bolts. After about 4 rounds, I started to wonder WTF was going on, they just weren't getting tight. Then I snapped 2. Torque wrench in the garbage, will never use one again on light torque applications. I like how stoptech says, "we now recommend using one's experience to secure those fasteners." It's not scientific, but I believe this is the only safe way to do this. And as good as Stoptech is, in EVERY respect, if there were a better way to install those bolts they would have found it.
