Default Thoughts on this setup?

I'm looking to do the suspension on my '00 quattro coupe. What I'm really looking for is a better handling car, and a lowered stance; not a race-type setup or anything. I found all this stuff on TTstuff.com, and was wondering what you guys thought of this setup:

Eibach springs - $239.99
Koni Shocks - $525.99
(are the Bilsteins for $689.99 worth the extra cash?)
K-MAC rear camber kit - $279.99

Just a few questions:

1) Should I look into a rear sway/strut bar?
2) Is there a better price available elsewhere on this stuff? Or is there a comparable setup from a different manufacturer that's cheaper?

I appreciate the help guys, this will be the first phase of modding the TT will undergo!

Default Looks good. As for the Bilstein sport shocks, they are definitley worth the extra...

...<font color="003366"> $164 if you have it.

As for your questions the and upgraded bar can be worth the money but remember, once you start fooling around back there you might want to look into new bushings and a larger bar up front. More money, of course.

Check shox.com for prices. They carry the springs and shocks you're interested in as well as that there KMAC.

As far as cheaper is concerned, you can pretty much always find cheap. It tends to be less good.

"You get what you pay for and rarely get anything for what you don't" is a butchered phrase that may be quite apropos here.</font>

Default I disagree with 2953- YIKES!...

Koni's are adjustable, and everyone likes Koni brand, plus lifetime warrenty- that is a deal!

Default FIEND!!!

...<font color="003355"> Adjustability and the warranty are plusses for Konis, to be sure. But to me it's telling that Q-GmbH uses Bilsteins pretty much exclusively. Unless the customer screams bloody murder as he waves fistful after fistful of cash at the guys at Audi's in-house tuning group.

In the end the Koni/Bilstein argument is pretty much one of personal taste and duty cycle.

If your gonna track you car, there is a strong case for going with the Konis and cranking 'em way up firm when you are lapping and than readjusting them for the street. But if you're not regularly taking your car to the track, the ability to adjust the rebound characteristics of Konis up and down to your heat's cocntent is really an ethereal benefit.

It's interesting to note that the service life of a hard-driven Bilsteins is usually longer than that of Konis on the same car (<i>Auto Motor und Sport</i> article back in the Spring or Summer of 2000, if memory serves). Which <i>may</i> explain the longer warranty on the Dutch shock absorbers.

Just my €0.02.</font>

Default LOL re "Ethereal Benefit"

I'm not being critical of you as I do not purport to have much knowledge about vehicle modifications. Translation ... I don't jack shiat ... hence my numerous ignorant (i.e., newbie) questions of late.

My comment is really just a reflection of the perverse enjoyment I get from reading some of your posts.

As Socrates once said: "Don't Playa Hate and Don't Be Disrespecting!"

P.S. Where's my tea?
