Default Torque Chart

Garrett (AWE) #'s for stock 180PS FWD. Caption on site claimed 120mph @ peak power on dyno, that would be using 5th gear to get numbers. Not sure why they would want to be in 5th, would have expected 2nd gear to be used. Net torque will change somewhat for each gear because of inertia. AWE only measured engine from 2500 to 6500 rpm.

So much for the "flat" torque plateau. Very useful, thanks, John!

Hi "John",
I do not know who constructed this graph, but it is not from our company (AWE). I do not know what site you are referring to, either.

You can see the *real* dyno graph we did for the TT on GIAC's site, address below. Pulls were done in 4th gear, to maximize a 1:1 gearing ratio desired.

Default Your site my friend...

"Todd",I will post ft·lb&rpm pixel conversion factors when I get home. "Pulls were done in 4th gear, to maximize a 1:1 gearing ratio desired." What? There is a 4:1 reduction in 4th at the wheel.
"Car making 200 HP at 120 MPH on the dyno" In 4th that would be beyond the rev limit. A few other chip tuners show baseline stock torque & power curves. They all show a flat band of torque, though not as broad as what Audi shows. However they show exactly the same peak torque as Audi claims. AWE's torque was peaky and the peak torque at the wheel was greater that what Audi claims at the crank. Did somebody do calculations with the wrong ratio? Can anyone at AWE speculate on the difference in AWE's reading compared to what the rest of the industry is reporting? Any info will be appreciated.

gear reduction chart

Default I know about gear reduction -173 X 3.3= 570 - I don't get it- are you saying the engine torque of

173 is increased 13 times by 3.3 1st gear ratio- NO way. Please explain how your magic works.

Dial in final drive ratio, and you get to 13!
