Total Engine Failure
this weekend i took my girlfriend in my new TT (only 393 miles on it) and we were cruising along in 5th only going about 60mph, when we heard this subtle 'clicking' sound. i thought it was road noise, but it got louder and louder, and then the engine lost all power, the check engine light went on, as well as the battery light. it was not a pretty sight.<p>fortunately, we were able to sputter down an exit ramp to a sunoco station, and called audi roadside service. a tow truck came within an hour, though it has to sit in their lot (80 miles from home!) until tuesday b/c of the holiday weekend, so it won't make it to the dealer until mid-week.<p>i won't know what it wrong with the TT until later this week, so i'll keep you all posted.<p>nope - total normal driving conditions and behaviour - and at less than 400 miles on it - this is BAD...needless to say i am TOTALLY irked by this...<p>(sob..)<p>gs.

My heart goes out to you. I can't stop looking at the photo. I certainly hope that you didn't get a lemon, for we know that all companies make lemons. Good luck to you and keep in touch. <p>The car is amazing...just be patient...there must be some logical reason for your mishap.<p>

Sorry - bad stuff happens now and then! But, you've got a 3-year warranty. If it's something serious and not an electrical glitch, your dealer should give you their TT demo or an A6 to see you thru this. In my 24-year history with them, Audi does stand behind its products.

Boxster Problems

I had a '98 GTI VR6 that died after 300mi as well. Started ticking louder, turned into a knock. <br>Turned out to be the main bearings for the Crank.<p>I took the issue straight to VWOA & ended up w/a new car after much wrangling (which I've since sold).<p>Don't overlook this as an option. This is definitely an option and I can see it from both sides of the fence. If I owned one of these cars, I guess I would consider demanding that Audi replace the car. As a person that works on these cars at a dealer, I would ask that you hold off until my diagnosis is complete. For the most part, we're a pretty competent group of people, and I don't think its asking too much to let us do our jobs and as a result keep you as a satisfied client.
