Troubleshooting a non-functioning window ...
Does anyone have thoughts or first-hand experience troubleshooting a window. Before I buy new parts, I want to figure out what needs to be replaced (switch, motor, regulator ...).
About a year ago the passenger window stopped the open-door-drop-down and I was unable to reset it as neither the passenger side nor drivers side switches worked on that window anymore. I'm guessing the motor is toast, but want to check other things before buying a new motor only to find out it is something less expensive (new motor from genuinevwaudiparts.com is about $225).
I'm guessing that I can test continuity of the switches to eliminate those, but are there other things to check? Are the switches linked (do I need to check both the passenger and the passenger control on the drivers switch?) ...
Through VagCom I didn't see any window motor/controller check, but is there one that I missed?
I foresee this being a nice weekend project.

Mine was stuck in the "down" position...
...I had it checked 3 months ago, but Audi couldn't find anything and just rest the window. Fast forward 3 months and it happened again. This time it was the window motor. The kicker, it happened on my drive in to work in sub-zero temps. $500 later I have a functioning window again.
