Default TT Chip

I have had my TTQ for a six weeks now. I am very happy with the car. None of the problems I have seen listed in this forum. However at 180hp, it does need a some more power. Maybe I should have waited for the 225hp model?

I have been gathering info on chips for the TT.
What I want to find out is what have other TT owners experienced after placing a chip in the their TT. Good, bad, or indifferent? And if anyone has done both a chip and exhaust for a TTQ, that info is even better. Thanks!

Default Re: TT Chip

Same here. I have been monitoring the forum and figure I'll decide on a chip after some of these guys rack up some additional test miles. Now that I've put in almost 1300 miles, the car feels quite a lot heavier than I expected. Its a lot of fun, but sounds and feels unhappy with the stock exhaust. If I decide to keep it rather than go up to a 225, I'll probably make the exhaust a priority over the chip... I always enjoy reading about people's comments, and most do seem very happy with their chips so far....

Default Experiences with my Garrett Chip (more)

I have had my TTQ since 8-11 had the Garrett Chip installed for aprox $549. at about 3,500 miles and absolutely love the performance. I recommend any TT owners who want additional inexpensive HP to go this route. 200+ HP 245 lbs of torque and WOW! No difference in milage(even now that I drive it harder) As I mentioned in previous post: "I feel like I'm in 3rd when I'm really in 5th" I never have to down shift to 4th to get that lil extra when going 40 or 50. No pings same 93 octane. I highly recommend Air & Water Enterprises in Phil, PA. Todd did a fantastic job and may use their services in the future for a Borla Exhaust install down the road. And no one knows the difference outside except when they see the rear of the TT as it pulls away.

Default Had the APR chip for 2,000 miles and I am in love--

I got it for $499. It came with detailed instructions that really helped out. Not as easy as my A4 but well worth the work. IT pulls great and is really smooth. I hope to add the exhaust from APR soon.

Just my 2 cents.

Default I have to 2nd Wayne on that(more)

I had a Garrett chip in my '99.5 A4(RIP) and now in my '00 TT. The car is great stock at 180, but its AWESOME at 200+hp, 245ft/lbs. I can't recommend AWE, Todd, or Garrett Lim himself highly enough. I have had seat or driving time in A4's with MTM, Wett, APR, and TAP. I have to admit the only chip that feels as good as the Garrett is the MTM, but its quiet expensive compared to the Garrett or other chips. The Wett felt good also, but not as smooth under normal conditions, and the APR and TAP chips were just like stock in 4th and 5th gears in my experiences with them.

I stand 100% behind Garrett and his product. You won't be disappointed.
Feel free to email or post any questions about Garrett and his chips. I have spent lots of time on the phone and in person at AWE and his house talking to him about his chips.

Hey, I just picked up my TT last night and I love it. Where can I get this garret chip? You think I should wait and put a few mile on the car before I do this?

Borla only makes an exhaust for a FWD at this time, not for Q from what I've heard. Stay tuned! (nt)
