Maybe the change is to the standard, not the car.

Default For all of you who think that I am lying...

Here is the actual letter:

April 21, 2005

To All U.S. Audi Dealer Principals, General Managers, and Sales Managers

Restricted Sale of Model Year 2006 TT Models

Model year 2006 Audi TT models are certified as Federal-only concepts. Because Federal-only concepts do not meet California emission standards, these vehicles cannot be sold in California or in states that have adopted California emission standards: New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, and Maine ( eAdopting Statesâ€). Further, under no circumstances should dealers engage in dealer trades of new model year 2006 Audi TT models with intent of sale in California or the Adopting States. Any sale of these vehicles in California or an Adopting State will result in severe penalties and fines against Audi of America and the participating dealers. In addition, these states may have safeguards in place that may prevent a customer from registering these federal-only vehicles.

We want to assure you that the next generation TT (available Spring 2007) will be available for sale in all states. We sincerely thank you for your cooperation and support in adhering to these important guidelines.

-----------------------------

And if you are wondering how many TT I have in stock.....
1 180 Coupe
1 225 Coupe
1 250 Coupe
1 180 Roadster
0 225 Roadster
1 250 Roadster.

No more coming in for 2005.

The TT will not get the 2.0T FSI at least until the new one shows up.

Default Lying is such a harsh word, I was thinking more along the lines of misinformed

But hey, that letter sure looks official but confusing. Federal Only concepts? Why when the model hasn't changed for the new year? Strange.
Conspiracy points to trying to unnaturally inflate demand in anticipation for the new model style. (Audi, not you)

Default This happened with the VW Eurovan a couple of years ago as well....

Since that was the base of Winnebago's Rialta, 05 Rialta's couldn't be sold in those states. The real funny thing is that standard RV practice is that the base chassis is one year older than the RV date so all 05 Rialta's used 04 Eurovan's which were ok. However, the 05 Rialta couldn't be sold NEW in Maine that is. It can be sold used. Go figure!

Default Thanks for the letter. Did not think you were lying, or even question accuracy of the>>>

statement, just wanted to know more. The throwaway bit of info about the next TT is interesting, too.

Default Makes sens to me. It probably has nothing to do with the emissions coming out of the TT>>

but that Audi chose not to spend the extra $$$ to certify the car in those states for the '06 year, esp. since the '07 will probably arrive mid-way thru '06.

Makes sense to me

Default No problems!! :)

Do you guys know of any changes in emissions over the past year in these States??
Oldschool may be right.
The TT is selling still very strongly in England, but slowed down here. That is also the reason why the TT has seen its production for the U.S cut in almost half!!
